Puppy abused Bend, OR (US)Incident Date: Thursday, Jan 15, 2009 County: Deschutes
Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Jareb Daniel Saurman
Bend Police are called to an emergency veterinary clinic Thursday on a report that they have a 10-week-old pit bull puppy that had possibly been abused.
Sgt. Greg Owens with Bend Police says their investigation brought them to the owner of the dog, who said her roommate, Jareb Daniel Saurman, 24, had severely disciplined the puppy after it relieved itself on the floor.
Saurman was taken to the Deschutes County Jail on numerous animal abuse charges. He also has an outstanding warrant from Morrow County in Washington.
The puppy's owner was not charged.
Another pit bull found at the residence is now in protective custody at the Humane Society of Central Oregon.
Owens says they get a few cases of animal abuse each year, but this one is one of the worst they've seen in a long time. References« OR State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Deschutes County, OR
