Signal Mountain, TN (US)

Incident Date: Thursday, Nov 27, 2008
County: Sequatchie

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged:
» Doyle Teague
» Carolyn Powell

Sequatchie County Sheriff Ronnie Hitchcock says they have charged two people with arson after they destroyed a home and killed the family's pet dog.

He says it happened Nov. 27 at 3108 Hwy US 127 on Signal Mountain.

He said Vincent and Virginia Bishop, along with their son, were inside the residence. The sheriff said they woke up to discover a fire at their rear door. They said they saw Doyle Teague, 67, and Carolyn Powell, 54, running away.

The fire could not be extinguished and destroyed the home, killing the family's dog.

The sheriff said "a melted jug was found where Ms. Powell threw an object and there was an odor of gasoline coming from the jug."

Both subjects were arrested for Aggravated Arson and Intentional killing of an Animal.

The sheriff has not said what the motive may have been in the case.
