A Crest Hill man confessed to leaving a kitten locked in his pickup truck for two days while temperatures dipped below freezing, police said.
Randell Smolich , 34, of 1709 Oakland Ave., was ticketed for cruelty to animals in connection with his run-in with police about 3 p.m. Friday.
Police reportedly took a call from a concerned resident who spotted an 8-week-old black kitten inside a 1985 Chevrolet pickup truck parked outside 102 Stryker Ave. The pickup's windows were rolled up and the engine was not running.
About 10 minutes after taking the call, police said, Smolich came outside. He reportedly admitted to leaving the kitten in the truck and said the animal had been out there for two days. Officers then learned the temperature was 29 degrees.
Smolich reportedly agreed to take the kitten to an animal shelter, since he could not find a home for it. References « More cases in Will County, IL
