Dog locked in hot car Bradenton, FL (US)Incident Date: Wednesday, Sep 3, 2008 County: Manatee
Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Brian A. Braine
Authorities arrested a 71-year-old man after finding his dog alone in a car in 93-degree heat, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report.
A sheriff's deputy found the heavily panting dog at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday in a car in the parking lot of Lowe's in the 1500 block of Cortez Road. The windows in the car were open about 2 inches, the sheriff's report said.
A witness told the deputy the dog had been in the car for more than 10 minutes.
After having the owner paged in Lowe's for more than 15 minutes, Brian A. Braine approached the deputy. Braine told the deputy his dog was fine, eventually driving away and leaving his driver's license with the deputy.
Braine was later arrested at his home in Bradenton on charges of animal cruelty and resisting arrest without violence. He has since been released from the Manatee County jail on $970 bond. References |
