Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

A Wilmington family said they lost two family pets to a dog fighting ring. They hope that by speaking out they can keep others from becoming victims.

The woman interviewed only wants to be known as Mrs. S because she fears her safety after her family dogs were found dead on Kerr Avenue Wednesday morning.

The canines were found with puncture wounds and cuts, and one was even shot in the head.

Mrs. S believes her daughter's dogs were taken by a dog fighting ring and then dumped on the side of the road.

"It wasn't consistent with a car accident. We believe they were used to bait pit bulls," said Mrs. S.

She said she's speaking out so others will too in efforts to bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice, or stop it from happening again to someone else's dogs.

The family rescued a dog from Animal Control this week as the first step to recovering from this gruesome crime.
