Authorities in Shreveport today were trying to find out who hanged a large dog inside a vacant house in Shreveport.
Police were called Tuesday evening after a neighbor complained of an unbearable stench coming from the frame house on Harrison Street in south-central Shreveport.
The carcass was found hanging inside a closet.
James Chelette, who lives next door to the vacant house, said he likes to sit on his porch but he couldn't do it Tuesday because of the stench coming from next door.
Animal control was called to the house today and removed the mixed-breed animal, which they believe had been dead for up to a week.
Police said they are investigating. What was done to the dog can be considered animal cruelty, police said. References « More cases in Caddo County, LA
