Police accused a man of knocking a cat off a fence with a stick and beating it repeatedly.
Jesse Leander Person, 49, of 9709 N. Nebraska Ave. was held Thursday at the Orient Road Jail with bail set at $2,000. He was charged with felony cruelty to animals.

A neighbor called police at 12:40 a.m on May 8. Thursday after seeing Person assault the cat outside Person's home. The neighbor retrieved the cat, but it died from its injuries.
