Dog locked in trunk of car
Brooksville, FL (US)

Incident Date: Sunday, Mar 23, 2008
County: Hernando

Charges: Misdemeanor
Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Ladorrian Jones

A Hernando County man was arrested Sunday night for allegedly locking his pit bull puppy in the trunk of his car.

The car was parked at the Beacon Theatre on the 12,000 block of Cortez Boulevard in Brooksville.

Someone called 911 around 7:23 p.m. to report an animal barking from the inside of a tan Buick LeSabre.

Deputies unlocked the trunk of the car and found a 30-pound brown pit bull puppy inside.

Deputies say there was a water bowl inside the trunk, but it had been turned upside down. They also found two bottles of leather cleaner, a bottle of window cleaner and a bottle of lighter fluid in the trunk with the puppy.

The owner of the car, Ladorrian Jones, 20, was found inside the movie theater.

He told deputies he went in to watch a movie and locked his dog in the trunk because it urinated in the back seat, the incident report said.

The dog was taken away by animal control.

Jones was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty.
