Alleged: Charles J. Laplante

Lewis County Sheriff�s Deputies arrested Charles J. Laplante, 54, of Beech Ridge Road on 22 counts of animal cruelty.

Authorities were called about malnourished animals on Laplante�s property.

There were 22 heads of cattle on Mr. Laplante�s farm that were in extremely poor health.

Two of the cows had to be put down because of their condition.

Laplante was issued an appearance ticket and will answer the charges in the Town of Croghan at a later date.
