A woman facing two misdemeanor charges of failing to provide proper shelter and sanitation for the 24 cats and one dog rescued from a Waukesha home told a judge on August 28 that she wished to plead guilty.

Rae Larson, 58, appeared before Circuit Court Judge Ralph Ramirez without an attorney and when the judge asked her if she wanted to hire one, she reportedly said no.

"If I plead guilty, do I have to have one?" she asked. "Im guilty."

Her 26-year-old son, Justin Larson, facing the same charges, also appeared before Ramirez without representation.

He explained his lack of an attorney by saying he has never been in court before so he wasnt sure of the process.

Both matters have been continued to October 11 at 8:45 a.m.
