Pick up drivers for Precious Treasures heard a cat meowing in a duffle bag
that was located in the donation box at the Walmart on Pacific Avenue on September 6th.

They found a black Army.com duffle bag with a black and white kitten inside. The Humane Society of Yuma was called immediately to the scene. The cat was drenched in his own saliva.

Upon arrival to the Humane Society the cat was examined with no life threatening injuries found.

Currently, there are no suspects, but around 10am Thursday morning, a new model dark gray or gold Chevy pick up was spotted in the area being driven by a female in her late 30s. If the public knows anyone who fits this description or knows who might have anything to do with this act of animal cruelty, the Humane Society of Yuma is offering a $250 reward for identification of the person
responsible.

The kittens name is Army and will be adopted by the responding officer, Rikki Weiss.

Intentionally causing harm to any animal is against the law. We need the public to know that no animal can be treated this way. This is one reason why the Humane Society of Yuma exists, is to help unwanted animals, states Elkie Wills, Community Relations Manager. The pubic is encouraged to call the HSOY anytime they see or hear anything that may result in injury or death to an animal.
