A criminal animal-abuse investigation is under way after a deputy city attorney found a cat in Logan Heights with its eyes spray-painted shut.
Attorney Kim Urie was out with her dogs near Memorial Community Park Wednesday when she spotted the cat in the alley. Urie said the cat was up against a wall and a can of spray paint was beside it.
She took the cat and the spray can to work with her and notified the county Department of Animal Service. She said there appears to be a partial fingerprint on the can.
The cat was set to undergo surgery Wednesday night.
The Animal Protection and Rescue League is offering a $500 reward for any information leading to an arrest in the case. References« CA State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in San Diego County, CA
