A case of severe animal cruelty had Bastrop County investigators looking for two suspects Wednesday.

Neighbor complaints led deputies to seize more than a dozen dogs at a home on State Highway 95.

Four were dead, and three more died at the shelter.

The rest were emaciated.

There was no evidence of food or water.

"The deputies will respond, and most of the time they'll find water and food if the caller may be a passerby or whatever, but on this magnitude, no, this is a lot of dogs, especially with this amount of dogs, this is a large amount of dogs," said Randy Looney of the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said they have been unable to locate the two people renting the house.
