Des Moines police are investigating allegations of cruelty in a case involving a dog.

Carol Jean Henderson told officers her dog was on her patio Monday morning when she heard something hitting the sliding glass door. Someone apparently threw a pair of scissors at the animal and they hit the glass.

Henderson, whose residence is in the 1500 block of Evergreen Avenue, said the incident was not the first of its kind. She said she earlier found a wound on her dog's chest while giving him a bath and then located a coat hanger near the patio.

Police list no suspects.
