A case of Animal Cruelty will play out in a Knox County courtroom on Feb 6, 2007 morning. It involves a dog killed after being dragged behind a car for several miles.

30-year-old Dustin Raquel Daniels is charged with Aggravated Cruelty to Animals. The incident took place on September 29th.

According to the Sheriff's report several people witnessed the disturbing crime.

Daniels was first spotted with the dog dragging behind her car at the intersection of Merchants Drive and I-75.

Court records state the woman drove down Merchants, then turned onto Clinton Highway, and finally stopped after dragging the dog for almost 4-miles.

Along the way, court records say many witnesses were screaming from their vehicles, pleading for the woman to stop the car.

One witness, Michael Pedigo says, he even walked to up Daniels car when she stopped at a red light, and told her she was dragging a dog behind her car. Pedigo says she looked at him, then kept on driving, when the light turned green.

According to court records, witnesses say the dog was alive and in pain when they saw it.

Court records state, Daniels finally pulled into the parking lot of Target, off Clinton Highway, pulled the now deceased dog out from underneath the car, got back into her vehicle, ran over the dog, then drove off.

A Knox County sheriff's deputy arrested Daniels at her mobile home which was less than a couple miles down Clinton Highway, shortly after the incident.

They are pleading with the D.A.'s office and the Judge to accept no plea bargains and send this case to a grand jury. They want to see the charge stay as a felony.
