According to a press release issued by the Manchester police department, the dog was found abandoned in a yard at the intersection of Lake Ave. and Belmont St. in the early morning hours of October 17, 2006. The dog was found lying on his side, encased in a thick coat of matted hair and feces in excess of 6 inches deep and unable to move. His nails had grown to more than 5 inches in length. According to the veterinarian who treated him, the neglect had likely been going on for a year or two. More than six pounds of hair and feces was removed from the 10- pound animal during the long procedure to free him.
