 Two dogs found completely skinned

The completely skinned carcasses of two dogs were found lying in a creek-bed off Pond Run Road Nov. 28.
The dogs were found by Pierce Township police after receiving an anonymous phone call; they immediately called Clermont County Animal Control who picked up the dogs and started their investigation.
"As far as we know, this is the first time that something like this has happened in the county," said Animal Control Officer Wesley Ramsey. "We are asking the community to help us; someone has to know what happened to these poor animals."
Animal control is guessing that the dogs were of German Shepherd mix (the condition of the bodies make that identification difficult), one to two years old, and weighing approximately 40 to 50 pounds each.
The dogs were mutilated in a sadistic fashion. The hides had been completely stripped, even the tail, and the noses and ears of the dogs were also removed.
"It was obviously a professional job," said Animal Control Officer Deborah Wood. "Whoever skinned these animals knew what they were doing. There are certain ways to skin animals and whoever did this knew those ways; it was done in a professional manner."
The Clermont Animal Control, which employs three full-time animal control officers, need information to resolve what they call this "despicable act."
The dogs had no identification tags or collars; there was nothing found to indicate where they had come from.
"We think, and hope, that the dogs were killed prior to being skinned," said Ramsey. "It is possible that the dogs were dumped in the creek the day before Pierce Township called us in because the bodies were still pretty fresh. We do not know where they come from, we have no leads, no physical evidence, no fingerprints, absolutely nothing. We need the community's help."
When asked about a possible motive for the inhumane treatment of the dogs, Ramsey and Wood are appropriately bewildered.
"My first reaction was how could someone, anyone, do that to an animal,?" said Wood.
Ramsey speculated that it could have been a revenge killing or just a sick prank.
"It is hard to say why anyone would do that," he said. "It sickens us."
Citing the obvious condition of the carcasses, no autopsies will be performed and the bodies of the dogs will remain at the shelter until disposal.
