Sentence: Guider was sentenced yesterday to 280 hours of community service and five years probation, despite a deluge of letters from animal rights activists seeking jail time.

Suffolk County Court Judge C. Randall Hinrichs could have sentenced Guider to 60 days in jail but said that after reading a psychiatric evaluation, he was satisfied Guider is not a threat to society. Granted youthful offender status, his criminal record will be expunged if he completes probation and community service.
