A 23-year-old Salem man is being held for alleged domestic battery and aggravated cruelty to an animal. Jason Lewis of Lamar Drive is accused of tearing up his home during an Oct 21 night altercation with his wife Sarah. Salem Police say Jason Lewis reportedly tore a phone from the wall and broke his wife's cell phone when she attempted to call police. He then allegedly grabbed his wife by the hair and threw her to the floor, struck her in the face, and kicked her in the rib area.
Lewis is also accused of throwing their miniature dachshund twelve feet across the kitchen, with the dog sustaining injury when hitting a wall.
Police say Sarah Lewis was eventually able to get to a neighbors house to call police. Jason Lewis left before their arrival, but was arrested later Saturday evening. Neighborhood MapFor more information about the Interactive Animal Cruelty Maps, see the map notes.
