Authorities are trying to track down the person responsible for viciously attacking a cow, which was kept as a family pet. The eight-year-old animal, named "dawg," was kept in a field in South Jordan. It was attacked and stabbed to death in July of 2005 but now officials are trying to catch the killer. The animals family is extremely saddened by the violent attack and said Dawg was a loving animal who showed plenty of affection.
Animal rights activists are disturbed by this act of violence, saying that it shows the killer may be capable of anything. If they're capable of subjecting an animal to something this atrocious, then they're certainly very capable of doing it to another human being, said Sean Diener, Executive Director of the Utah Animal Rights Coalition. People who abuse animals rarely stop there, said the coalitions Leici Hendrix. Were still hoping for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of whoever committed this despicable deed, Humane Society Executive Director Gene Baierschmidt said.
$3,500 in cash rewards are being offered for information in this case.
