Kingston police have charged two men in connection with a series of residential break-ins, including one last month that left a small dog blood-soaked on the kitchen floor. Police suspect the men are responsible for four break-ins where about $30,000 worth of property went missing.

Perhaps the most disturbing incident happened Feb. 27, 2006, said Const. Neil Finn when a man discovered his residence had been broken into and found his dog laying crippled in a pool of blood. Finn said the dog was hit in the head, but is recovering.

On March 4, another home was broken into while the homeowners slept. Two laptop computers, a PlayStation and food were taken. Later, at about 5:45 p.m., that same couple came home to find two men inside the home and gave chase -- catching one while the other got away, but not before dropping a knapsack loaded with stolen goods.

After a week-long investigation, police recovered $10,000 worth of property. John Patrick Lechance, 29, and Sean Charles Molyneaux, 23, both of Kingston, face several charges, including cruelty to an animal.
