Former United Nations Ambassador Jeane M. Kirkpatrick has been ticketed for locking her poodle in her car with all the windows rolled up on a hot day. Kirkpatrick was shopping in Bethesda boutiques, leaving her dog Jasper locked in the car during 90 degree temperatures.
Ms Kirkpatrick was issued a $45 ticket by a police officer for violating a state motors vehicle law that forbids leaving animals in locked cars.
Ms Kirkpatrick is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute.
Sharon Kessler, the executive director of the Montgomery County Humane Society, said Ms Kirkpatrick probably didn't know the dangers of leaving a dog in a locked car on a hot day. References | Associated Press National - June 30, 1999 |
