A $2,500 reward is being offered by The Humane Society for any information on the person who allowed a dog to starve to death in the Interbay area of Seattle.

The dog, an emaciated tan and white pit bull with a silver pinch collar around its neck, was found dead on January 24, 2006 on Thorndyke Avenue West. Animal Control officers said the dog appeared to have been starved, kept inside a residence and then dumped just before or after its death.

"This is a tragic and unfortunate incident," Seattle Animal Shelter Director Don Jordan. "This dog clearly suffered tremendously prior to its death." The $2,500 reward is being offered for information that results in an arrest and conviction. Anyone who has information can contact the Seattle Animal Shelter at 386-7387, ext. 2.

A $5,000 reward is being offered to anyone with information resulting in the conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of a severely emaciated pit bull discovered in the Interbay area south of the Ballard Bridge. The Humane Society of the United States initially offered a $2,500 reward.

The tan-and-white pit bull was found January 24, 2006 next to Moss Green Inc. at 3625 Thorndyke Ave. W., wearing a silver "pinch" collar. The dog had apparently been starved and kept indoors, and then dumped just before or after its death.
