A Chiloquin-area man is in jail on attempted murder charges after allegedly beating his wife for an hour and a half at their home Sept 14.

Chief Deputy Chris Montenaro of the Klamath County Sheriff's Department said Tim Lee Huebner, 45, was arrested on the night of Sept 16 for the incident.

Authorities said Huebner was with his wife that Wednesday despite the fact she had obtained a restraining order against him.

Following the incident that Wednesday, his wife appeared at the Klamath County Courthouse for a previously scheduled appointment regarding the restraining order.

She told authorities her husband had attacked her, and that he used a 2-by-4 piece of lumber to beat the family dog when the dog tried to come to her rescue.

Staff at the Klamath County Victim Services Department urged the woman to seek medical attention.

Montenaro couldn't comment on the severity of her injuries, but said they were not life threatening. She had recently undergone major surgery, though, and Montenaro said Huebner was charged with attempted murder because she was still recovering from that.

Huebner is charged with second-degree assault, attempted murder, tampering with evidence, two counts of fourth-degree assault, strangulation, menacing, second-degree animal abuse, violation of release agreement and contempt of court.

He's being held at the Klamath County Jail in lieu of $278,000 bail.
