Police are asking the public to help solve a case in which someone shot and killed a dog. The incident happened around 5:45 p.m. Sept 16 at the Normsdale Mobile Park in the Scullville section of Egg Harbor Township.

Rebecca Silvestre, 28, told police she got home, got out of her car and heard a popping sound. She then saw her 2-year-old Chihuahua, Vanilla, stumble and run back to the front of the home, where he died.

Staff at the Ocean Heights Animal Hospital said the dog may have been shot with a BB gun.
