Spokane, WA (US)

Incident Date: Monday, Mar 3, 2003
County: Spokane

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Eric B. Griffith

More charges have been filed against a 21-year-old man arrested after he allegedly shot a dog in the West Central neighborhood March 3, 2003, nearly hitting an 11-year-old girl.

Eric B. Griffith was arrested on a probation violation after the shooting. As a convicted felon, Griffith is not allowed to have a gun, police said.

He now faces additional counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, first-degree animal cruelty, and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

Griffith was one of two men allegedly seen walking behind homes in the 2500 block of West Sharp the day of the shooting.

The girl was playing in her back yard with her dog when Griffith fired one round at the dog, police said. The girl was touching the dog when it was shot. She was not injured, and the dog survived
