A dead animal was found locked in an apartment, left behind by its owners in what police are calling it a twisted sense of revenge, after the tenants had been evicted, and they had allegedly left a dead dog in the kitchen.

Don Taylor, a public affairs officer, was called to the scene. " He saw a small black and white puppy that had been left at that location unattended due to his decrepit condition had apparently starved to death," Taylor said.

WLWT reports that the landlord is pressing vandalism charges against the former tenants, and police are considering pressing animal cruelty charges.

The dog that died was a mixed breed that had been a pet of the tenants, the report said, adding that a puppy was also locked in this apartment. Several live cats and dogs were removed, but no information on the number or their conditions was immediately available.
