The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals rescued more than a dozen malnourished and abandoned dogs from a northeast Harris County home Thursday afternoon.

Investigators received a tip from a neighbor who said that several dogs were locked in a garage at 3134 Marquita.

The neighbor told SPCA investigators that the dogs might possibly be feeding on a dead dog.

When the SPCA arrived, they found 13 live dogs and one dead dog. Seven of the dogs are believed to be from the same litter. The remaining dogs are from another litter.

The dogs were feeding off the dead dog, which is believed to be the mother, according to Stacey Wilbanks from the SPCA. The garage is allegedly oozing with filth and slime. The SPCA had to breakdown the door to gain entry and rescue the dogs.

The owner of the dogs is believed to be in a Mexican jail.
