A case of animal abuse in Olmsted Township left two horses nearly dead and their owner facing a judge.
An anonymous tip last weekend to the Animal Protective League led to the rescue of the horses late Wednesday afternoon.
Officials said they gave the owner, Liz Berlin, two days to get the horses medical attention, but she did nothing.
The APL was forced to seize the animals from their stables in Olmsted Township, where they were found living in horrific conditions.
"We found the horses initially with no food and water in a (small) stall with 3 (feet) to 4 feet of fecal matter (and) no bedding, and they weren't getting any exercise," said Jeff Kocen of the APL.
The APL will rehabilitate the horses immediately.
