Kitty Kitty, so named by Omar's 14-month-old daughter, had been missing for almost a week when he appeared at the Omars' doorstep on the morning of April 14 with the arrow, which barely missed his heart.
Responding to a call from Omar's parents, an animal control officer transported the injured animal to Greenbrier Animal Hospital, where veterinarian Dan Grimm performed surgery. The cat's life began ebbing away Saturday (April 16) afternoon, and Kitty Kitty died of an "overwhelming infection" about 6 p.m., Grimm said. Grimm had hoped antibiotics and pain medicine would see Kitty Kitty through, but the collective infection turned out to be too much.
"The arrow had been in there for three or four days, and the whole left lung was (badly infected)," Grimm explained.
"He was a real fighter," Grimm said. "I was amazed that he was in as good spirits as he was."
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident. References« Back to Search Results
