In late January a husky puppy belonging to Enoch Adams Jr was found mutilated and hanging from the village water tower.
Andy Greenstreet of Alaska State Troopers was delayed by weather getting to the scene of the mutilated puppy. He arrived in Kivalina, 80 air miles northwest of Kotzebue on Feb 5 to investigate the case. The puppy's frozen body had been kept at a relative's house.
Greenstreet said, "It's missing it's tail. That was cut off. It's missing a foot. That was cut off. It looks like it had been kind of skinned and gutted. It had a green twine wrapped around its neck, and it was still on there when I got to it."
The village residents were reluctant to answer questions, several teenagers were apparently involved.
No charges have been filed. The case will probably be turned over to the Kotzebue office of the Division of Juvenile Justice. References
