A 16-year old teen has been referred to Potter County Juvenile Probation for killing a small dog belonging to an Amarillo couple.
Corporal Terry Neufeld said the unidentified teen became angry at the 4-year old Boston Terrier that barked at him from a backyard in the 100 block of North Goliad Street.
The teen kicked a hole in the fencing which allowed the dog to escape. He then killed the small dog with a large rock and the lid off a water meter.
The suspect had been telling other children about what he did, and it was eventually reported to the police.
The teen will face cruelty to animal charges which are a class A misdemeanor.
Neufeld said the the misdemeanor charge can carry a jail sentence of up to two years and a $4,000 fine.
If the teen is convicted of the cruelty to animal charges, he would also be required to undergo psychological counseling.
