Two pet Rottweilers have been shot and killed near the Carroll-Baltimore county line in two separate shooting incidents. The owners have no idea why anyone would want to shoot and kill their dogs.

The female Rottweiler, Sabre, had puppies 10 days before she was found dead from a shotgun blast. The owners Bill and Marie Murphy live on the 3900 block of Schalk Road No. 1 in Millers, Carroll County.

Approximately a five minute drive from the Schalk home a three year old Rottweiler, Samson, came home about 4:30 p.m. with six bullets in him from a 9 mm handgun which were fired at close range. Samson was taken to a veterinary hospital and died later that night. Adrienne Whitney owner of Samson lives in the 19700 block of Grave Run Road in Baltimore County.

Whitney said Samson was about 120 pounds, but "his biggest fault is he was really friendly. If he was attacking somebody I could understand. If somebody decided Rottweilers are all evil and wants to get rid of them, that's different."

Whitney called the Baltimore County police after hearing that the Murphy's Rottweiler was shot the same day.
