Dog strangled to death
Syracuse, NY (US)

Incident Date: Sunday, Aug 1, 2004
County: Onondaga

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Anthony Perolla

North Syracuse police have arrested a man they say admitted to strangling his dog to death in his garage. Neighbors saw Anthony Perolla bringing the dog's body to his pickup truck on the night of Aug 1.

Perolla told police he got mad at the pit bull-boxer mix after it nipped at him and his daughter. He says he pinned the dog against the wall and choked it until it didn't struggle anymore.

The dog did not die quickly - Perolla says it struggled for about five minutes.
