Police arrested 25-year-old Damon Payton on animal cruelty charges after his dog allegedly died of starvation.  A Humane Society veterinarian says the dog was emaciated and all they found in its stomach were several rocks. 

The dog was found starved to death Nov. 18 on his Colwick Road property.

Payton will be arraigned in Gates on December 9.  He faces a $1000 fine and possibly up to a year in jail.
