A Waterbury teenager was sentenced to six months in jail for stabbing and slashing six cows on a Berlin farm in July 1999.
Nathan Cox, 17, pleaded guilty to one count each of cruelty to animals and unlawful mischief, both felonies. Sentenced in Vermont District Court in Barre. Cox, who is under probation supervision until he finishes the school year, will start his jail sentence in June.
He will also pay $1,000 in restitution and serve 500 hours of community service. In addition, he will receive mental health and alcohol counseling.
