The owner of herd of llamas has reported to Grand Prairie police that one of his prized stud llamas, valued at $5,000, was fatally shot with a small-caliber firearm sometime Monday or Tuesday "I went by the field yesterday and saw him lying on the ground," Bill Strong said. "At first I though he was sunning himself, then I saw a small hole in his side that looked like it came from a .22. " Strong, who has been breeding llamas for 17 years. He said the animals typically gather along the fence line adjacent to North Carrier Parkway at night to sleep. He said it is possible someone shot the animal from a passing car.
