Four teens were orginally being charged with torturing and mutilating ducks in the Mercer County town of East Windsor. They are accused of beating a mother duck and her ducklings to death with a shovel. Residents say the ducks lived behind an apartment complex off Dorchester Drive. They remember seeing the teens stoning, beading and chopping up the ducks. In all, two ducks and their ducklings were killed.
When Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) officials learned about the incident, they immediately contacted East Windsor police, who tracked down the teens. SPCA representatives say the ducks did not seem to bother anyone in the apartment complex. They think the teens were simply trying to empower themselves.
If the teens are found guilty, they will probably face probation and community service. Case UpdatesPosted on Jun 5, 2004 - 2:56PM | June 5, 2004 - Police in East Windsor, New Jersey have arrested two teenagers on charges of animal cruelty.
