Sheriffs arrested Kelly and Cynthia Graham after the SPCA seized their 4 horses, citing neglect due the fact that the animals were 250-350 pounds underweight.
According to SPCA Executive Director Freda Waters, the Grahams had been receiving help from the SPCA for the last 4 years to secure food, water and veterinary care for the horses, but when Waters visited the property 2 weeks prior to the arrest, the horses were in such poor condition that she had them seized. The couple was charged with 4 counts of animal cruelty and release on $500 bond, and face a fine of up to $1000 or a year in jail if convicted.
