Sandra Ayers of Duluth, GA was charged with 47 counts of animal neglect on Tuesday, April 20.  She had been renting a kennel from Carl Viener, who runs a greyhound adoption program from his house in Snellville.  Suspecting neglect after not seeing Ayers feed the animals for a few days at the time, Viener set up a video camera and recorded the neglect.  He then phoned the police.

Of the 47 animals taken from the kennel, 20 dogs were taken to the Atlanta Humane Society, and the remaining 27 to the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter.  There were also 11 dogs that were dead, and wrapped in plastic bags.
