He was held without bail and charged with cruelty to animals, a class B felony.
After responding on Feb. 5 to an animal-cruelty complaint on David Drive, animal control officer Jana McMillan and Detective Dan Dolan concluded Miguel hit his brindle boxer, Xena, three to five times with a rolling pin.
The alleged assault left Xena with a 2-to-3-inch laceration on the head and a bloody nose, police said. Xena was treated at the Hudson Animal Hospital for her injuries.
For the time being, Xena is in police custody until McMillan can find her a new home.
If convicted, Miguel could face 3 1/2 to 7 years in prison. Case UpdatesPosted on Jun 2, 2004 - 9:04AM | Miguel was indicted and will now have to appear in Superior Court.
