The Special Unit for the Protection of Nature of the spanish police SEPRONA has rescued 17 horses from severe neglect in a property in Chinch�n, near Madrid. The owner and the caretaker have been charged with a felony for animal abuse.

La Guardia Civil de Chinch�n ha detenido a dos personas a quienes se les imputa un delito relativo a la protecci�n de la fauna, flora y animales dom�sticos pues manten�an a 17 caballos en unas condiciones lamentables, en estado de inanici�n, en la finca 'El Serranillo' de esta localidad del sur de Madrid.

La llamada de una ciudadana alertando de que hab�a observado varios caballos que parec�an estar en estado de abandono, hizo que la Guardia Civil pusiese en marcha el dispositivo. As�, los agentes del SEPRONA localizaron la finca y, tras comprobar que los animales se encontraban en estado de inanici�n avisaron a la Direcci�n General de Agricultura de la Comunidad de Madrid, que certific� estos extremos.

Los animales, todos en un p�simo estado, se encontraban adem�s en una finca ubicada en el paraje de "El Serranillo" de forma irregular, seg�n inform� el Instituto Armado. Tras lograr localizar al propietario de los animales y al presunto cuidador, los agentes del SEPRONA les imputaron un delito relativo a la protecci�n de la fauna, flora y animales dom�sticos, tipificado en el art�culo 337 del C�digo Penal. Los caballos han quedado bajo la custodia de la Comunidad de Madrid.
