He was also accused of having sex with a Rottweiler dog, a rural Crown Point ranch in 1992.

He was convicted of theft and cruelty to an animal, and was imprisoned until 1994. A month after his release, he was arrested in connection with the attempted theft of a German shepherd from some property in St. John Township.

Bessigano's history of animal abuse dates back to 1991:
He was arrested twice, once after being accused of breaking a rooster's neck and once after he was found in a neighbor's goose pen apparently attempting to molest the birds.
