Newark, NJ (US)

County: Essex

Disposition: Open

Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

Investigators in Newark are trying to find the person responsible for burning and possibly abandoning a 4-year-old rottweiler.

Members of the Newark Humane Society say the dog suffered burns over the lower half of his body. Investigators believe the act was done on purpose. The dog, renamed Renaissance by shelter workers, wandered onto a man's back porch after possibly being dropped off by its owner. Animal control later came and picked him up.

The SPCA has begun an investigation to find the person responsible for harming the animal. In the meantime, Humane Society workers hope to find Renaissance a home with loving owners after he heals from his burn wounds.

A $1000.00 reward is being offered to anyone that can help solve this case.

Anyone wishing to make a donation or offer information about the incident can call the Newark Humane Society at 973-824-2720.
