On Sunday, February 12, 2012, at approximately 9:30 AM, the city of Jurupa Valley's Special Enforcement Team, with assistance from Riverside County's Animal Control and Code Enforcement Officers, served a search warrant in the 4000 block of Kenneth Street, Jurupa Valley. The search warrant was served as a result of an investigation regarding illegal cock-fighting and gambling at a residential property on a half-acre lot.
Deputies located evidence of illegal cock-fighting and gambling at the residence. More than fourteen-thousand dollars was seized in connection with the illegal gambling. A total of 28 male adults were arrested as illegal animal fighting spectators. The home owner, Martin Ruezga, a 47-year-old male, his son, Miguel Angel Ruezga, a 25-year-old male, and the homeowner's brother, Filiberto Ruezga, a 62-year-old male, were arrested for animal cruelty and illegal gambling. The homeowner was ordered to demolish and remove all non-permitted structures at the residence. All three adult males and residents of Jurupa Valley were booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.
