A Georgetown, S.C., man is in jail after police said he threatened his mother with a gun and burned a kitten in a charcoal grill.
Georgetown police said they were called to a home after a woman reported her son had pointed a shotgun at her and was also armed with a pistol.
Officers said that when they arrived the man, later identified as Chance Godwin Adams, 24, was arrested.
Police said Adams had on ski goggles, odd matching clothes, a pistol holster on his waist and parts of a shotgun in his sock.
Officer said he refused to show them where the guns were.
Police said they made contact with Adams' mother, and she said he had some kind of psychotic episode and destroyed the house the night before. She said he was also using guns in a threatening way.
Adam's mother told police she got out of the home and called police.
When officers searched the home, they said they found a semiautomatic rifle in the kitchen.
Officers said they also found a dead kitten in a charcoal grill.
They said it appeared someone placed the kitten in the grill while it was hot, killing the animal. Adams' mother told police the cat was a stray and had been staying at the house. She also said a family dog that was last seen with her son was also missing, and the dog's collar was found covered in blood.
Adams was taken to the Georgetown Detention Center and on the way he talked about setting the cat on fire, police say. When asked about the guns, police said Adams told them "Aim high, in the tunnel."
