more information on voting

When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.

Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "People’s Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isn’t enough.

Neglected pit bull seized
Ariton, AL (US)

Incident Date: Tuesday, Nov 1, 2011
County: Dale

Charges: Misdemeanor
Disposition: Convicted

Defendant/Suspect: Roger Jolly

An Ariton man pleaded guilty to an animal cruelty charge this week, which involved the neglect of a pit bull dog.

Dale County Sheriff's Chief Investigator Harvey Mathis said Roger Jolly, 45, pleaded guilty to a single misdemeanor count of animal cruelty on Wednesday. Mathis said Jolly received a 12-month suspended sentence. He was also ordered to pay a $250 fine and $233 in court costs.

Mathis said he arrested Jolly earlier this month after he seized the dog from Jolly's home.

Mathis said Jolly forfeited the dog, which is being kept at the Ozark Animal Shelter, and is up for adoption. He said the dog is in poor health, and would need nursing back to health if adopted.

Anyone who would like to adopt the dog can call the Ozark Animal Shelter at (334) 774-4633.
