Another reward has been offered for information that could lead to the perpetrator in an animal cruelty case.

Norred & Associates, an Atlanta-based security firm, decided to contribute $5,000 to the reward fund.

As of Friday the reward is now $6,000

Veterinarians said the dog is expected to recover from its injuries and is being treated at an emergency clinic in northeast Atlanta.

The pit bull was discovered by Willie Melson in his back yard on Kenner Drive.

"He had old scars, like he'd been in a fight. And as gentle as that dog was to me, they had to be making it fight," Melson said.

That's when he said he called 911, and the dog was taken to the Pets Are People Too emergency clinic at Ansley Mall.

The technicians at the clinic told Channel 2's Tony Thomas the arrow just missed the animal's left eye. One of the technicians showed the dog's injuries to Thomas, saying, "It's going right here through his eye here, and it came out here, and it just hit muscle."

As the dog continues to recover, the focus is now on trying to find who shot the dog.

"This is an egregious case of animal cruelty," Tony Phillips with Fulton County said.

Fulton County authorities said they are offering a $1,000 reward in an effort to find the shooter before another animal or person is injured.

"Typically in a case like this there is someone who knows something. And we are just asking people to come forward and provide information," Phillips said.

Meanwhile, the technicians at the clinic said they have come up with a name for the dog: - Arrow.

Authorities said once the dog has recovered, Arrow will likely be put up for adoption.
