Dog tied to truck, dragged, run over
Olivehurst, CA (US)

Incident Date: Tuesday, Aug 2, 2011
County: Yuba

Disposition: Alleged
Case Images: 1 files available

Alleged: Wayne McFee

An Olivehurst man who allegedly dragged a dog behind a pickup was arrested Friday on suspicion of cruelty to an animal, a Yuba County Sheriff's Department official said.

Wayne McFee, 42, was contacted and came to the Sheriff's Department. He was being booked early Friday afternoon into jail, said department spokesman Lt. Damon Gil.

The arrest followed digging by detectives and calls from the public after the dog's story appeared in the Appeal-Democrat, said Gil.

The incident occurred Aug. 2 on Seventh Avenue in Olivehurst. After the 2-year-old female American bulldog broke free, McFee allegedly backed the truck over her, then left her for dead on the side of the road.

The dog, since named Baby, suffered a broken left rear leg and a damaged tail, both of which are expected to be amputated. She is being cared for in Rocklin by One More Dog Rescue, a group founded by Marcy Lopez, the former manager of a Marysville veterinary hospital.
