Penned dog shot to death
Mount Pleasant, PA (US)

Incident Date: Saturday, Jul 30, 2011
County: Fayette

Disposition: Open

Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

A Fayette County man said he believes that thieves shot and killed his dog so they could steal from him without being detected.

Randy Gowton said he discovered that his 12-year-old chocolate Labrador was shot and killed on Saturday morning.

According to Gowton, the next night someone broke into his shed and stole his quad and motorcycle.

"They killed the dog so it didn't bark at them when they stole the quad and the bike," Gowton said. "I don't sleep anymore. I'm up all night. It's terrible."

Gowton said his home burned down in March and he lost another dog in the fire. He also said his son's quad was stolen about two years ago.

State police continue to investigate.
